Jackpot Rules

EuroMillions jackpots start at €17 million and roll over when there is no winner, growing with each draw. The jackpot is capped at €250 million. Once the cap is reached, prize money cascades to lower tiers (roll-down). If unclaimed after 5 draws at the cap, a SuperDraw event is triggered.

TaxTax treatment varies by country. France, Belgium and Switzerland apply withholding taxes; Ireland and the UK pay prizes tax-free at source. Always verify local rules when claiming large prizes.
Claim periodPrize claim deadlines vary by country — typically 60 to 180 days after the draw. Check local operator rules promptly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do Lucky Stars work in EuroMillions?
Lucky Stars are 2 numbers drawn from a completely separate pool of 12 balls (numbered 1–12), independently from the 5 main numbers. You pick 2 Lucky Stars on your ticket. Matching more Lucky Stars increases your prize tier — but you do not need to match any Lucky Stars to win prizes in Tiers 3, 6, 10 and 13.
What happens when the jackpot reaches €250 million?
Once the jackpot cap of €250 million is hit, the jackpot is frozen. Any additional prize money is instead distributed to lower tiers — a process called "roll-down." After 5 consecutive draws at the cap without a jackpot winner, a special draw is held where the jackpot must be won.
Which countries participate in EuroMillions?
EuroMillions is played in Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (including Gibraltar). Players must be physically located in one of these countries to participate.
